What’s up, Michiana Memo Members?
I moved to Michiana about 2 years ago - since, I’ve struggled to find events/happenings in the area. I absolutely love living here - and want to help bring the community together through sharing local events, positive local news, highlighting interesting businesses & real estate. All local, no politics.
So…welcome to the first edition of Michiana Memo AND a big thank you for deciding to see what it’s all about and subscribing. As much as this is a personal passion project for me, I also want it to be community-driven, so if you have suggestions for people/places/things to highlight, constructive criticism or events you’d like to share - please reply to this email and I’ll be all ears.
Appreciate you - and Happy New Year!
Things to Do
Bouldering in Mishawaka, IN at Apex Climbing Gym
If you’re not familiar, bouldering is rock climbing closer to the ground, without the constraints of harnesses or rope - but always over safety crash pads. Apex Gym is a great place for beginners, kids that need to burn off some energy, or people looking for ways to stay active in the frigid cold. Prices start at $17/adult and $13 for youth drop-in rates.
Co-Ed Indoor Volleyball in Mishawaka, IN at Mishawaka Fieldhouse
Join the start of an upcoming 6 vs. 6 co-ed volleyball league every Friday night at 7 PM, beginning January 10-February 28. Registration is required HERE.
Ice Bumper Cars and Icebyks in Mishawaka, IN at Ironworks Ice Rink. The electric bumper cars are an absolute blast — after all, what's better than scooting along the ice and ramming into other people? Icebyks, a low-riding bike similar to a Big Wheel, are a fun way to cruise around the ribbon with friends and family. These both require reservations, which you can make HERE.

Foodie Recs
Wild holiday szn behind ya? Take a breather this weekend ad and enjoy our top picks. You bring the drinks, we’ve got the links.
ragamuffin bakery + coffee: Giant baked goods, fresh coffee, what more could you ask for? We suggest their seasonal latte and brownies. They’re closed until 1/12 for a break, but will reopen! Follow them on Instagram for daily offerings.
Petra’s Middle Eastern Cuisine: We saw this rec on Reddit last weekend - and just tried for the first time a few nights ago. Absolutely delicious, and there’s something for everyone (even the picky eaters). We suggest the Chicken Mansaf & hummus. SO GOOD.
Reserve at State & Main: Is Middlebury in Michiana? We’re saying it’s close enough. The Reserve is a reservation-only fine-dining restaurant that has a set (but rotating monthly) dinner menu. We went a few weeks ago…soooo good.
Dream Of The Week: The barndo of our dreams 🤩
Steal Of The Week: Turn-key & full of character, s’cute!
