ND’s campus looks SO different in this pic. No Trader Joe’s or Starbucks in sight.
What’s up, Michiana Memo Members?
As I’m finishing up this week’s newsletter, I’m reminded on this blue bird day that we are SO lucky to live in this community. We have great schools, a safe community and a killer line-up of coffee shops & restaurants. That’s one of the many reasons I wanted to start this newsletter; not just to eventually create unique local events, but to also highlight everything that makes Michiana special!
So…welcome to the SECOND edition of Michiana Memo AND a big thank you for sticking with it. Don’t forget - tonight, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish take the field against Penn State at 7:30 PM.
Appreciate you - and if you like this newsletter, forward to a friend and help grow Michiana Memo!

See what your animal friends do in winter, feed the giraffes, ride the train, and grab a snack from The Lodge! Winter Days are free for Zoo Members and discounted to $12 for adults and $10 for kids and seniors for non-members.

JANUARY 17 @ 5-8 PM | Fish Fry Fridays in Niles, Michigan (registration required) - Sugarella’s Catering caters regularly at The Embers (special event venue in Niles), and Fridays in Jan/Feb, they’re doing fish fries, complete with all-you-can-eat fried fish, coleslaw, fries, and dessert! Cash bar.

Foodie Recs
Take a breather this weekend ad and enjoy our top picks. You bring the drinks, we’ve got the links.
Embassy Coffee: We judge our coffee shops based on whether they have only 1 iced latte size or not. IYKYK, 1 size latte = GREAT coffee. Embassy has great vibes, it’s a good place to work from or meet up with friends, and their food menu is great for a light bite.
Thistledown & Row: We’ve not actually visited this restaurant in Buchanan, MI, but we keep seeing it suggested to us on FB! The vibes are SO cute, and their menu looks delicious. They’ve got a brunch menu for the weekends, and lava cakes on their dessert menu - officially on our short list to try.
No.6 Scratch Kitchen: This restaurant is one of our favs. Housed in an old firehouse, cozy inside, cute outdoor patio - menu that changes daily (true to it’s namesake: the food is made from scratch!!), No 6. is really ONE of a kind. This place is cozy-tiny, so make sure you make a reservation for best mileage.
Dream Of The Week: Live out your Bridgerton Dreams in this $2.6 million MANSION
Steal Of The Week: Renovated, has a garage: what more can you ask for?
