Maybe there’s some sunshine in our future? It’d be much appreciated after a cloudy and rainy week. We’re over these Winter Blues - bring on summer + spring!

Did you know that St. Joe, Michigan was once host to a beachfront amusement park? Wooden rollercoaster and all.

Silver Beach Amusement Park, located in St. Joseph, Michigan, operated from 1891 to 1971. Founded by boat builders Louis Wallace and Logan Drake, the park began as a modest boardwalk offering concessions and games. Over time, it expanded to include various carnival rides and attractions.

For less than $2, families could enjoy swimming in Lake Michigan, indulging in sweets, and playing games of chance. Notable attractions included the "Chase through the Clouds" roller coaster and, in 1927, the addition of the Shadowland Ballroom, which quickly became a popular venue.

Despite its popularity, the park experienced a decline in tourism over the years, leading to its closure in 1971. Today, Silver Beach continues to attract visitors, serving as a tranquil spot to enjoy the sun and reminisce about the park's vibrant past.

The amusement park in all it’s glory! Would’ve been SO cool to see.
